  • Weight — a full enclosure adds 15–25 kg to a 150–220 kg trike, or 3–5% of the 500 kg payload envelope. On a 300 kg EU-class trike, that is 15–25 kg you should subtract from cargo allowance.

Cold Weather: Battery Behavior and the Charging Protocol

Cold is the harshest enemy of a lithium pack, and it is where most all-weather programs fail:

  • Regen and derating — the controller derates power in cold to protect the pack; a canopy keeps the battery compartment warmer than an open trike, which reduces derating time on short trips.

An e-tricycle's electrical system is built for outdoor use, but "splash-resistant" and "weathertight" are different promises:
